The
Sessions.

Lessons teach you the chords. The Sessions give you somewhere to actually play them — a room of 20 to 30 people on the same road as you, some just starting, some years in. Bring a song, jam with the room, and find out you're closer than you think.

What you can do

Play your song. Jam with the room.

Bring an original, or a cover you've been chipping away at. This is the low-pressure room to test it — the audience is exactly the people who get what you're working on, because they're working on their own version of the same thing.

Practicing alone tells you what you know. Playing in front of people tells you what you're ready for.

Who's in the room

Some just started. Some have been here for years.

Just starting out
First song, first time.
About a third of the room is brand new — first song, first time playing for anyone. Nobody's grading you. The only rule is you're trying.
Years in
Still showing up.
Some members have been coming for years — gigging musicians who still show up for the room, the feedback, and the excuse to play something just for fun.

"There is a massive difference between practicing in your room and sharing your music with a community. The open mic sessions completely shifted my mindset. Seeing everyone play made it all click."

Common questions

Before you ask.

I've never played in front of anyone. Is this for me?

Especially for you. Most first-timers are working through their first song, not headlining. The room's built for that.

Is this an extra cost on top of my lessons?

No — it's included free with every subscription, in-person or remote. Nothing to buy, nothing to book separately.

I take lessons remotely — can I still come?

Yes, if you're in or near Austin. Some remote students fly in for it; others just stay remote and catch the next one when they're in town.

What if I don't have a song ready?

Come anyway. Watching a Sessions night before you play in one is exactly how most members start.

Let's talk for fifteen minutes.

Tell me what you want to play. I'll tell you honestly how long it'll take to get there, and whether The Sessions and I are the right fit.
